Comparability — Bangladesh [top]
While most countries ask an open-ended question about which sexually transmitted infections the respondent has heard of, the 2004, 2007, 2011, and 2014 Bangladesh surveys ask, "Have you heard about: Syphilis?"
Comparability — Jordan [top]
While the 2012 Jordan survey asks includes "Syphilis" as a response category, there is also a write-in response category of "syphilis." These two responses are consolidated in STIKNOWSYPH to maximize comparability.
Comparability — Senegal [top]
While most countries ask only an open-ended question about which sexually transmitted infections the respondent has heard of, the 1992 Senegal survey asks two questions: an open-ended question, and, for women who did not report having heard of syphilis, the follow-up question, "Have you ever heard of syphilis?"
