Description
TBCARENP4 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the respondent reported she would prefer to seek care at a Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN) facility if she had tuberculosis. This response category is country-specific to Nepal.
Some samples in the "TBCARE" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
TBCARENP4 is combined with TBCARENP5 (Marie Stopes) and TBCARENP6 (other NGO) in TBCARENGO (all NGOs) for the 2016 Nepal sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using TBCARENP4 are encouraged to review TBCARENGO for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
TBCARENP4 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
TBCARENP4 is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Although TBCARENP4 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in TBCARENGO, a variable that encompasses all NGOs as potential sources of tuberculosis treatment. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of TBCARENP4 or the Comparability tab of TBCARENGO for more information on the specific categories combined for Nepal 2016.
