Description
WEIGHTFEM (V437) reports the woman's weight as measured by DHS personnel. There is one implied decimal place in the weight. Dividing WEIGHTFEM by 10 will yield the woman's measured weight in kilograms.
Comparability
Apart from changes in the universe over time (see below), WEIGHTFEM (V437) is largely comparable across samples.
Comparability - Standard DHS
WEIGHTFEM (V438) is included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase II forward. In phases prior to Phase IV, while some samples included all interviewed women for anthropometry measurements, other samples included only mothers of children under three/five years of age. In Phase IV forward, all interviewed women were included in the anthropometry measurements. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to refer to the Universe tab when making comparisons across samples.
