WINDOWYN indicates whether the dwelling in which the household lives has any windows.

Along with universe differences, there was some variation in how information was collected for WINDOWYN. While most samples relied on observations made by the interviewer, some samples (noted below) did not conform to this standard.
Comparability - Standard DHS
WINDOWYN is a country-specific household variable not included in the standard DHS questionnaire.
Rather than relying on interviewer observations, the 2003 Mozambican survey asked, "Does your house have windows?"
