WTRSHORTYN (HV201A) is included in Phase VII forward of the standard DHS household questionnaire. The standard question wording is, "In the past two weeks, was the water from this source not available for at least one full day?"
Comparability — Egypt [top]
The 2005 and 2008 Egyptian surveys asked if there was "any time when water was not available," suggesting a complete lack of access to water at some point in the last two weeks. The Egyptian surveys referred to the supply of drinking water and water used for other purposes (e.g., washing).
Comparability — Mali [top]
The 2006 Malian survey asked if there were any "interruptions in availability," suggesting a disruption, but not necessarily complete unavailability of water in the last two weeks. This survey referred to the supply of drinking water.

The 2006 and 2012 Niger surveys asked if there were any "interruptions in availability," suggesting a disruption, but not necessarily complete unavailability of water in the last two weeks. These surveys specifically referred to drinking water.
Comparability — Senegal [top]
For the Senegal 2005 survey, a "no" response means there were no interruptions in the availability of water in the household's main source of drinking water during the past two weeks.
