Codes and Frequencies
Description
YRSCHLEG reports the number of years of education the respondent completed at the highest level of schooling achieved, as reported in EDUCLVLEG. This variable is country-specific to Egypt.
Comparability
YRSCHLEG has no comparability problems.
Because YRSCHLEG reports the number of years of schooling at the level achieved, "4 years" does not mean 4 years total, but 4 years at whichever level of education the respondent achieved. Thus, a code of 4 could indicate 4 years of primary school, preparatory school, or secondary school, for example. Users should consult the Survey Text tab for exact question wording and surrounding questions.
Comparability - Standard DHS
A question about the highest year of education the respondent has completed is included in every phase of the standard DHS questionnaire. YRSCHLEG is a country-specific variable.
