Description
GEO_CM2018 (V101_CM2018) reports the region of Cameroon where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 2018 Cameroon survey are equivalent to regions, with two cities, Douala and Yaoundé, remaining autonomous regions.
Other sample years for Cameroon have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables, GEO_CM1991_2018 and GEO_CM2004_2018, that provide spatially consistent units over time for Cameroon.
A GIS map for GEO_CM2018 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository Boundaries page.
Comparability
GEO_CM2018 (V101_CM2018) is a country- and sample-specific variable. In the 2018 survey, the Yaounde region was expanded northward into the Centre region, as compared to previous surveys.
Comparability - Standard DHS
GEO_CM2018, like other V101 variables, is a geographic variable added during processing of the DHS data. V101 (and the equivalent variables HV024 for household members and MV101 for men) are included in all Phases of the DHS.
