GEO_GH1988 (V101_GH1988) indicates the region of Ghana where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 1988 Ghana survey are equivalent to grouped regions.
Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_GH1988_2016, that provides spatially consistent units over time.
