Description

GEO_LR1986 (V101_LR1986) reports the region of Liberia where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 1986 Liberia survey are equivalent to groups of counties.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_LR2007_2013, that provides spatially consistent units over time. Note that the 1986 survey is not included in GEO_LR2007_2013.

Comparability

GEO_LR1986 (V101_LR1986) is a country- and sample-specific variable and has no comparability issues.

Comparability - Standard DHS

GEO_LR1986, like other V101 variables, is a geographic variable added during processing of the DHS data. V101 is included in all Phases of the DHS.
