Description
GEO_MA1987_2003 indicates the region of Morocco where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in GEO_MA1987_2003 are equivalent to groups of regions.
Labels identify the modern geographic units (regions) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own sample specific geography variable.

Comparability
The DHS samples of 1987 and 1992 divided Morocco into groups of regions. The groups included the following regions:
Sud: Souss-Massa-Draa, Guelmim-Es-smara, Laayoune-Boujdou-sakia Al Hamra
Tensift and Centre: Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Doukkala-Abda, Tadla-Azilal, Chaouia-Ouardigha, Grand-Casablanca
Nord-Ouest: Gharb-Chrarda-Bni Hssen, Rabat-Sale-Zemmour-Zaer, Tanger-Tetouan
Centre-Nord: Fes-Boulemane, Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate
Oued-Eddahab-Lagouira in the Sud region is excluded from the 2003 survey.
