Description
GEO_SN2005 indicates the region of Senegal where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2005 Senegal survey are equivalent to regions.

Comparability
For comparative analysis, spatially harmonized regions are available for the 2005 sample, including GEO_SN1986_2017 and GEO_SN2005_2019.
Based on the 14 administrative regions in 2017, GEO_SN1986_2017 combines regions into:
- West (Dakar, Thiès)
- Center (Diourbel, Fatick, Kaolack, Louga, Kaffrine)
- North east (Saint-Louis, Tambacounda, Matam, Kedougou)
- South (Kolda, Ziguinchor, Sedhiou)
Based on the 14 administrative regions in 2017, GEO_SN2005_2019, combine regions into:
- West (Dakar, Thiès)
- Center (Diourbel, Fatick, Kaolack, Kaffrine)
- North (Saint-Louis, Louga, Matam)
- South (Kolda, Ziguinchor, Sedhiou, Tambacounda, Kedougou)
