Description

For women who experienced fistula for reasons other than delivery and sexual assault, FSAFTPELVIC indicates whether the condition occurred after pelvic surgery.

When children are chosen as the unit of analysis, the woman respondent indicates the mother of the child.

Comparability

FSAFTPELVIC has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

Questions about fistula are not included in the standard DHS questionnaire. Although FSAFTPELVIC is not included in the Standard DHS Module on fistula, the module does include an open-ended question about the cause of fistula for women whose fistula did not start after delivery (see FSAFTALL).
