Description
ATSZ6 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported some other NGO as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. The meaning of "other" must be interpreted relative to the specific categories included in a particular sample. This response category is country-specific to Eswatini/Swaziland.
Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ATSZ6 is combined with ATSZ4 (NGO - FLAS [Family Life Association of Swaziland]), and ATSZ5 (NGO - TASC [The AIDS Support Center]) in ATNGO (all NGOs) for the 2006 Eswatini/Swaziland sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATSZ6 are encouraged to review ATNGO for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
ATSZ6 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Although ATSZ6 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in ATNGO, a standard variable that encompasses all NGOs as potential sources for an AIDS test. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ATSZ6 or the Comparability tab of ATNGO for more information on the specific categories combined for the Eswatini/Swaziland samples.
