Description

STIADCF2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported seeking advice or treatment from a public health sub-center the last time she experienced symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past year. This response category is country-specific to Central African Republic.

Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

STIADCF2 (health sub-center) is combined with STIADCF2 (government health center) in STIADPUBHC (all public health centers) for the 1995 Central African Republic sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADCF2 are encouraged to review STIADPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.

STIADCF2 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where the woman received advice/treatment for an STI is included in Phases III, V and VI forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although STIADCF2 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in STIADPUBHC, a standard variable that encompasses all public health centers as sources for STI advice/treatment.
