HCMET7 indicates whether the woman reported an "NGO community-based distributor (CBD)/community-based reproductive health agent (CBRHA)" as a source for male condoms. This response category is country-specific to Ethiopia.

Some samples in the "HCM" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCMET7 is combined with HCMET4 (NGO health facility) and HCMET9 (other NGO) in HCMNGO (all NGOs) for the 2005 Ethiopia sample.

An open-ended question on known sources for male condoms is included in the standard DHS questionnaire in Phases III forward.

Though HCMET7 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in HCMNGO, a variable that encompasses all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as sources of male condoms.
