HCMMM8 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported some "other" non-governmental organization as a source for male condoms. The meaning of other depends on the NGOs specified in a sample. This response category is country-specific to Myanmar.

Some samples in the "HCM" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCMMM8 is combined with HCMMM4 (Marie Stopes International), HCMMM5 (Myanmar Red Cross), HCMMM6 (Population Services International/Myanmar [PSI/M]), and HCMMM7 (Myanmar Medical Association) in HCMNGO (all NGOs) for the 2015 Myanmar sample. Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question on known sources for male condoms is included in the standard DHS questionnaire in Phases III forward.

Although HCMMM8 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in HCMNGO, a standard variable that encompasses all NGOs as potential sources for male condoms.
