Some samples in the "HCM" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCMMW3 is combined with HCMMW1 (mission hospital), HCMMW2 (mission health center), and HCMMW9 (mission door-to-door) in HCMPRIVMIS (all faith-based facilities) for the 2010 Malawi sample.

Additionally, HCMMW3 is combined with HCMMW1 and HCMMW2 in HCMPRIVMIS for the 2000 and 2004 Malawi samples.

Though HCMMW3 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in HCMPRIVMIS, a variable that encompasses all faith-based facilities as sources of male condoms.
