Description

HCMSZ3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported some other religious or mission facility or organization as a source for male condoms. The meaning of "other" depends on the sources for male condoms specified in a given sample. This response category is country-specific to Eswatini/Swaziland.

Some samples in the "HCM" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCMSZ3 is combined with HCMSZ1 (religious/mission hospital) and HCMSZ2 (religious/mission clinic) in HCMPRIVMIS (all religious/mission facilities or organizations) for the 2006 Eswatini/Swaziland sample.

Comparability

HCMSZ3 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question on known sources for male condoms is included in the standard DHS questionnaire in Phases III forward.

HCMSZ3 and the related variable HCMPRIVMIS, which combines HCMSZ3 with other responses to encompass all religious/mission facilities or organizations, are country-specific and not included in the standard DHS questionnaire.
