Description
HCMTG2 indicates whether the woman reported a maternal child health center as a source for male condoms. This response category is country-specific to Togo.
Some samples in the "HCM" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
HCMTG2 (maternal child health center) is combined with HCMTG1 (public health center) and HCMTG3 (public health post) in HCMPUBHC (all public health centers and health posts) for the 1998 and 2013 Togo samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using HCMTG2 are encouraged to review HCMPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
HCMTG2 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question on known sources for male condoms is included in the standard DHS questionnaire in Phases III forward.
Although HCMTG2 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in HCMPUBHC, a variable that encompasses all public health centers and health posts as sources of male condoms. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of HCMTG2 or the Comparability tab of HCMPUBHC for more information on the specific categories combined for Togo 1998 and 2013.
